Basic EFT for Day Trading

EFT is easy to learn. Once you practice and learn the basics, you will develop the skill to use EFT when you notice any anxiety, frustration, fear or any other emotional aspect intruding on your trading, and get back to following the markets!

The key is to practice and use EFT daily.

Basic EFT Worksheet Packet

Download and print these three free files. After you have learned the steps (and it really doesn't take long to learn) you'll no longer need the worksheets or tip sheets.

Trader's Issues Worksheets & Examples

This is an explanation of how to use the " Issues Worksheet," filled in with examples. This packet has worksheets, diagrams and reminders to assist in your learning, and to use for your practice. The worksheets are great for a reminder of the process, keeping track of your issues, and having a journal of how the process is working for you.

  • Trader's Issues Worksheet Explained
Where it says "check if used, or fill in alternate below." That is referring to whether you say the regular statement, "I deeply and completely accept myself," or whether you say something else (sometimes referred to as the Choice Method). I think it's best to stick with the original but feel free to experiement; you'll get a good result either way.
  • Trader's Issues Worksheet ("Cheat sheet" with examples)
Use this to become familiar with the wording and sequence. Soon you won't need to be reminded and can use EFT in your trading whenever the need arises

Alternatively, just click the above links, which should open the file in your browser. Then using the "Save" button in the Acrobat Reader toolbar, save a copy to your computer. If you need help with downloading or saving files, read the instructions for Adobe here (opens in new window).

If you want to read more about EFT, get the free original EFT Manual by Gary Craig at his site. Complete EFT Manual (opens in new window). At Craig's site you'll find many examples of using EFT for different issues. It is not necessary to purchase more materials to learn EFT although there are Advanced EFT materials if you want to learn more.

Put EFT in your back pocket as a technique which will go a long way toward ending your emotional trading issues. It's been said that 80% of a traders success depends on the ability to handle the emotional aspects. EFT can make that happen.

Surprisingly many people, after using EFT, will claim they never had the problem they treated in the first place. The worksheets will demonstrate how something you once thought was important, no longer is. This happens to such an extent that sometimes people will say their original issues wasn't really an issue, or they make up other reasons for the change, "I just finally decided that wasn't important."

That's a complicated way of saying EFT works amazingly well and that's real emotional freedom!

Overview of the tapping points:

EFT tapping points diagram
  1. SE (Side of the eye), inside corner, near the nose.
  2. OE (Outside corner of the eye).
  3. UE (Under the eye).
  4. UN (Under the nose).
  5. CH (Chin).
  6. CB (Collar bone. Not on the bone itself, but just under it).
  7. UA (Under the arm), about where the bra stap on a lady or nipple height for a man.

I remember this by thinking of drawing a big question mark on my face, starting from point No. 1, out to point No. 2, back to point No. 3, and then down from point No. 4. Once you go through the various tapping points a few times, it's very easy to remember the various points.

You'll be using a light tapping touch, hard enough to feel, but not so hard as to bruise yourself. Gentle, but not so gentle that you barely notice. Tap five to seven times on each point, about the same amount of time it takes to say your reminder phrase. This process is described in the packet referred to above.

Follow the instructions, read along as you practice tapping. Think of an issue, rate the level of distress, write it down on your worksheet, proceed through the process, then re-rate the level of distress. That's it!
